While some competitions occur over water, few are as unique as those held in Virginia Beach. Led by the Send It Gym team and co-owner Jeff Eckert, a renowned route setter, this outdoor climbing event offers a distinctive experience. It’s split into two captivating segments: a high-level competition and one tailored for adrenaline enthusiasts of all levels.

Three Different Aspects of Climbing

What to expect? A special section to learn about this discipline, a high-level competition, and a strong and unique event. Of course, this event will end with the finals, but throughout the festival, there is the opportunity to learn about the sport by booking your scramble pass and getting tips from the Send It Gym crew.

Boulder Scramble Pass

For those looking to enjoy climbing without competing, we offer the Boulder Scramble Pass for $25.00 USD. This pass provides access to a range of problems from beginner to advanced (V0 to V10) and includes shoe rental on site for only $5.00 USD. Please note, this pass does not grant access to the competitions. The session will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Sunday. Check the schedule for details, as it may change depending on weather conditions.

DYNO competition

A piece of advice: don’t miss the DYNO competition, an event where athletes will jump from one hold to another. It’s a spectacular and impressive format for both experts and novices. It will be open to registered athletes (citizen and open) and the format will be “Cash for Tricks” ($1,000 will be distributed) . Don’t miss out on Friday from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Open Competition Qualification

The Open Competition Qualification is open to 60 climbers, including the top 5 men and women from Jackalope Mtl 2023. The format is a Red Point Round with 25 problems in one heat, combining the 60 climbers and the top 10 from Jackalope Mtl 2023. The top 16 climbers (top 8 women and top 8 men) will advance to the finals. This round will take place on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Citizen Competition

The Citizen Competition is open to 120 climbers, with registration available to everyone. The format is a Red Point Round with 25 problems, split into two heats of 60 climbers each. Each heat lasts 3 hours on Saturday, with the first heat from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM and the second heat from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The Final

The Final will feature the top 16 climbers (top 8 women and top 8 men) from the qualifications. The format is Onsight (Parade format) with 4 problems. The top 3 women and top 3 men will reach the podium. Route setting will take place on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with the finals scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

The Wall and the Prizes

To win a share of the $10,000 USD in cash prizes, you will have to climb well! The prizes are distributed equally across the men’s and women’s categories, with $5,000 USD each. The prize breakdown is as follows:

• Top 1: $2,500
• Top 2: $1,500
• Top 3: $1,000
