Climbing: an Exciting Show at the Old Port – JACKALOPE Montréal 2025

September 17, 2025 / By justin

This year’s climbing competition at JACKALOPE Montréal 2025 was nothing short of spectacular.

Powered by the expertise of Allez Up, our major partner Arc’Teryx and the contagious energy of the crowd, the bouldering comp brought together international stars, talented local athletes, and a passionate audience for an unforgettable celebration of climbing culture.

A “Smooth and Exhilarating” Atmosphere

Estelle from Allez Up described this year’s competition as both smooth and exhilarating:

“It’s always impressive to see international climbers we only get to meet at JACKALOPE, like Joe Goodacre, Cloe Coscoy, Sienna Kopf, and at the same time appreciate the talent of our local athletes such as Babette Roy and Hugo Dorval. What’s most incredible is the camaraderie and kindness that exists between them.”
The crowd was also a show in itself, elevating every moment of the finals:

“The energy during the finals was spectacular. You could feel the entire crowd vibrating as one, and every top came with an explosion of emotion.”

Competition Highlights

The Saturday night finals delivered the most exciting climbing of the weekend:

  • Men’s category: Matthew Rodriguez stole the spotlight with his top on the first bloc, the only climber to succeed on that problem.
  • Women’s category: Local favorite Babette Roy dominated the comp, taking the win with confidence and sparking extra pride from Montréal’s climbing community.

The demanding routesetting forced elite athletes to push their limits, adding intensity and drama to the show.

Speed Bouldering : Une Finale Renversante

Speed Bouldering Surprises

In the men’s speed finals, everyone expected Joe Goodacre to take the win (speed is his domain). But a slip on a key move gave Martin Dufour the chance to shine, securing an unexpected yet brilliant victory.

A Unifying Event for the Community

More than just a comp, JACKALOPE Montréal serves as a true meeting point for climbers:

“It allows some to meet international athletes, others to enter their very first competition, or even take their first steps in climbing on the Arc’Teryx initiation wall. It’s truly a gathering point for everyone.” says Estelle.

With skateboarding and climbing side by side, JACKALOPE creates bridges between two vibrant communities, making Montréal’s Old Port the epicenter of urban sports energy.
