One of the most exciting parts of a skateboarding contest is seeing a young ripper come out of nowhere and make us say, “Who the hell is he?!”. With no competition to get their teeth into under the circumstances, skaters are spending the summer honing their skills on the streets and in skateparks across the province. Who are the best young talents on the Quebec skateboarding scene? How do skaters stand out in times of pandemic? The Jackalope team wants to put the spotlight on some of Quebec’s young talents who could get the crowds standing on their feet sooner rather than later!

William Phelan

19 years old St-Bruno Instagram: @williamphelan Although still young, William Phelan’s name is beginning to resonate across Canada and beyond. The St-Bruno skater is so stylish that it’s almost indecent. For the past two years, Phelan has made a great impression at the Jackalope festival. In 2019, he placed 17th in the street event and had finished 7th in 2018. But it is definitely in the street that the 19-year-old skater stands out.

Morgan Desjardins Turgeon

19 years old Quebec City Instagram: @RobinTheZoo Morgan DT is THE big rookie coming out of Quebec City. Just settled in Montreal, he will undoubtedly continue his phenomenal progression. A two-time Jackalope competitor, he also did well at the Canadian Nationals last March, where he finished in 8th place. On the Exo Shop team, Morgan is also sponsored by Primitive and Ethnies. Jeremy Paré

21 years old Montréal Instagram: @chicobrodie Paré is a very, very solid skater. Member of the DSC (Dinosaur Skate Club) collective, Paré also represents the Rollin store. Raph Séguin

18 years old Varennes Instagram: @7radraph7 éguin is a versatile skateboarder, as impressive in a mini as he is on the street. Séguin has participated in the last three editions of the Jackalope Festival, where he ranked 23rd in 2019, 16th in 2018 and 31st in 2017.
