JACKALOPE Virginia Beach, Year 3 brings the storm. Here’s what’s coming.

The tide’s rising, and the third edition of JACKALOPE Virginia Beach is coming in fast.
The pirates are back, the cannons are loaded, and this time, there’s a literal shipwreck waiting in the middle of the course. For the third year in a row, Jackalope drops anchor on the coast for three days with a full-throttle collision of legends and locals, groms and killers, pros and pirates. From best trick to finals, from adaptive to WCMX, from rising stars to Olympic medalists, here’s everything you need to know before the beach turns  into a battlefield. Got your sword ready?

FORMAT: Why Change a Winning Formula?

STREET & VERT BEST TRICK
The format stays the same ; because it works. Friday opens with Best Trick at sunset, and it’s full-on mayhem.

A pile of hungry skaters and many unforgiving features. Pro and open riders throw down together in one massive session where cash hits the ground as fast as tricks get landed. Land it clean and get the bills,  Miss it and the next one’s already rolling in. Skateboarding in its most honest form. Pro riders battle it out for a $1,000 cash prize, while the open category gets a $500 prize for the best trick.

For the VERT, this year, the Céline Dion of VERT skateboarding, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, the Quebecois legend, will be running the Best Trick and handing out special prizes for signature moves. Expect fireworks.

STREET CONTEST
Saturday brings the grind.

Qualifications are a jam format
– 60 skaters
– 30 heats
– 2 riders per heat
– each with 2 minutes to impress.

The top riders make it through to the semifinals, and in the men’s semifinals:
– 2 riders per heat
– 3-minute jams
with the top 3 best tricks from each heat added up cumulatively.

Sunday’s the day it all goes down, the Final and Super Final.

The format’s as intense as the sea
– 12 riders
– 2 at a time
– 3-minute jams
where the top 3 best tricks from each rider are scored cumulatively.

You’d better bring your A-game The Super Final is the storm that follows. The top 5 riders will go head-to-head in a 5-minute jam, pushing the limits to claim the top spot and snatch that massive treasure, 7,500$ first place. Men and women alike will fight tooth and nail for the prize, just like the crew on any pirate ship, they’re all in it for the same spoils.

JUDGING: KEEP IT CLEAN AND ORIGINAL
Let’s be real ; judging at Jackalope ain’t about playing it safe. For street, it’s all about overall impression. That means how hard your tricks are, how clean you land them, how much of the course you touch, and if you’re bringing something different to the table.

Style, variety, originality ; those are the things that stick. In semis and finals, only your three best tricks count, and each one’s scored out of 100. Stack ’em smart. And when it comes to the Super Final, it’s one last five-minute jam with just five riders ; only your single best trick matters. You’ve got one shot to push your score higher, so go big.

VERT CONTEST
For vert, it’s more classic:
– 30-second runs
– best one counts.

Judges are looking at difficulty, style, flow, variety, originality, and how you use the whole ramp. There’s no room for rinse-and-repeat runs ; bring something fresh.  Fall once, that run’s done. Show up ready to go all-in.

Riders are grouped in heats of six, each getting three 30-second runs in qualifiers, four in semis, and five in finals, runs end on a fall, and there’s no first wall rebate. Everything runs in order, with drops on PLG’s cue, keeping the pace tight and the flow consistent.

ADAPTATIVE SPORTS AT JACKALOPE VIRGINIA BEACH 2025: A PIRATE’S TALE OF COURAGE AND SKILL

Ahoy, The tides of change are upon us, and Jackalope Virginia Beach is the perfect place to witness the rise of adaptive athletes!

Welcomes a new crew to the shores: adaptive skateboarders and WCMX riders. With the wind in their sails and the sea at their backs, they’re here to prove that no obstacle is too great when the spirit of adventure calls. WCMX riders in custom-built chairs and adaptive skateboarders from across the country will drop into the same setup as everyone else, with features carefully chosen to support all styles of riding. Shoutout to California Skateparks for building with that in mind, helping us make sure every rider can send it properly.

BREAKFAST OF LEGENDS
No better way to close out the weekend than sitting down for breakfast with the people who just blew your mind all event long.

Sunday morning, 9 to 11 at the Hilton Hotel, we’re doing a proper meet & greet, nothing fancy, just good food, good coffee, and time to hang with the athletes. Ask questions, hear some wild stories, get something signed, maybe even snag a photo if you’re not too shy. Don’t miss out, spots are super limited.
